Music Video Industry

This PPT gives you the run down on the type of questions you should be asking yourself when researching the music video industry, with plenty examples along the way.

(Okay, I know it's unfinished at the moment, but I will update it soon).

Representation

Here's the lesson we did on representation. It's focused on gender portrayals, but you can explore the representation of any relelvant social group. You do not have to focus on one group, and you look at various mediums of media (music videos, digipak covers, magazine portrayals, in the news, etc.).

Muvi Spy Cam

Okay, here is the next piece of kit we have... the MUVI Spy Cam. The quality of the picture is pretty poor, but there are certainly some effects it can be used for. It has a clip on it, so perhaps it might be good for chase scenes. The ol' "Shaky Cam" (a la Blair Witch Project) can be used to create a disoriented effect, and is useful for first person "Point of View" shots.
Check out this vid of Mr Egan beating me up. This is not a fake video... I just happened to have the camera running when he attacked me.

Equipment

Okay, I'm going to put up a series of posts to outline the equipment in the media department that we have at our disposal.

First up, is the smoke machine...

To Do List...

Okay, here is the list of things that could (should) be a part of your research and planning process. As you can see there is quite a lot to be done, so stop reading this and get cracking with the work.

Remember to be creative with your use of interactive media.

Sales Pitch and Storyboard

The "Independent Learning" is as follows (I'm sure it won't be long before we rename homework again, to something like "scholastic home improvement plan for intrinsic self-dependence and developemental growth project").

Anyway, by next lesson -- in a fortnight -- you will need to:

(a) have completed your storyboard for your second 1 minute extract (and found a creative way of posting it on your blog).

(b) be fully prepared your presentation for the 'Sales Pitch'.

Here's the PPT for the lesson we did on the 'Sales Pitch':
(Pay particular attention to slide 5 as it is crazy important to deal with those questions).

And here's the PPT for the Sales Pitch:

Just for a laugh

"You dirty rat. You killed my brother!" -- James Cagney never actually said this line, but the closest he came was a scene from his 1931 film "Taxi." Here's my recreation of it... a one man show. I was the camera man, actor 1, actor 2 and post production editor.

Let's start off all formal, shall we...

Here is the blog you've all been waiting for...

... and first up is the marking spec (only the highest grades, as this is what I expect from you). Enjoy!
